Gayathri Venkataraghavan is one of the most respected Carnatic vocalists of her generation. Her musical journey began at a young age under the guidance of her mother, after which she received advanced training from the legendary Sangita Kalanidhi T. Brinda. This rigorous training shaped her distinctive style rooted in the rich and refined traditions of the Veena Dhanammal bani, known for its emphasis on classicism, subtlety, and lyrical depth.
