Ganesh Kumaresh, the world-renowned Violin duo are known for their scintillating and spirited Violin recitals since three decades.Their music is laden with pure virtuosity and brims with novel surges of soul stirring creativity soaked in Classicism.  Their creative idiom is international and their communication through music crosses all physical boundaries.

 
Their trysts both at home and abroad have not been with just audiences of Indian origin but also have captivated audiences across the world keeping them spell bound and enthralled with electrifying energy.



Thavil maestro Tanjavur Govindarajan is on of the foremost exponent of the art form of playing the Thavil (barrel drum). He has been performing as a thavil vidwan(maestro) for the past 4 decades and has created a niche for himself as a very versatile and inspirational artiste. He is known for being very subtle and at the same time very dynamic on an instrument which is by itself very loud. He is the recipient of the Kalaimamani award conferred by the State Govt of Tamilnadu and has received many more awards and accolades from various organizations all over the world.


 
Patri Satish Kumar on the mridangum (carnatic double headed drum) is the one of the most sought after mridangum vidwans today. He has the unique quality of adapting his performance according to the nature of the artiste he is performing with and is a star among percussion players of India. He has been playing this instrument for the past 2 decades and has enthralled both the learned and uninitiated with his virtuoso performances. He is recipient of many awards and accolades from many leading organizations and has performed in many international festivals.

WHEN:  Saturday, March 12, 2011 from 9.00 AM

Richmond Rasikas is excited about your participation in our annual Thyagaraja Aradhana event. Registration for this event is now open.  Please read the following GUIDELINES carefully before you register to perform in the upcoming Aradhana. We look forward to your support and patronage each year.  

Participation Guidelines:

***  ALL TIME ALLOCATIONS INCLUDE ANY SETUP TIME REQUIRED ***
***  NO ALAPANA, NERAVALS or SWARAMS allowed during Thyagaraja Utsavam except for the teacher category ***
***  A Fall 2011 event is being considered for those interested in alapana/neraval/swaram ***

(1) Individual Participants : 5 minutes maximum (one Krithi only)
(2) Group of two or more : 10 minutes maximum (not more than two Krithis)

(3) Repeat Appearances:  ONLY ONE repeat appearance may be requested using a separate registration form.  Restrictions and limitations may be imposed based on the total number of participants. Back to back slots or time windows are not available for repeat performances. Please plan to stay back if you are requesting a second slot.

(4) Music teachers in the Greater Richmond area ONLY: 15 minutes - up to TWO Krithis maximum with the option to  explore ragam-nirval-swaram.

(5) Thyagaraja compositions mandatory for participants 12 years of age and over.

(6) After the registration is complete any changes to the request will need to be done via email communication with the entire committee at richmondrasikas@gmail.com. Individual committee members will be unable to make any change without the entire committee's explicit approval.

(7) Participant fee is $10.00 for the first appearance and $5.00 for all repeat appearances. (Fee waived for voluntary accompanists and Pancharathnams/Utsava Sampradayam groups.)

PLEASE NOTE THAT THE FEE HAS BEEN INCREASED TO MEET THE EVER-INCREASING OPERATING COSTS OF RICHMOND RASIKAS.

Participants will be notified once the final time-slot schedule is published on our website.  We look forward to seeing you on our stage very soon.
